MILAN - BELLUNO
We start our journey with a morning ride to Lago di Garda, stopping along its eastern shore to enjoy magnificent views of this timeless landscape in one of Italy's most visited lakes. After lunch, it is time to climb the mountains on a unique road that combines switchbacks and curved tunnels. The San Boldo pass will surely leave an impression on us all!
Our first night stop will be in the beautiful ancient town of Belluno, the most important city in the Eastern Dolomites region, where delicacies from the northern Italian cuisine will be our reward for a long but enjoyable first day on the road.
BELLUNO - BLED
The fabulous curves of the Pre-Alps Natural Park and the Triglav, the mountainous massif that separates Italy from Slovenia, are waiting for us today. We will go up the mountains in Italy, and after lunch, we will descent in Slovenia and keep on riding to magical Bled Lake, a real fairytale place for our night rest.
BLED – PLITVICE
Another memorable day waits for us as we leave Bled Lake and head to the Postojna Cave, one of the largest and oldest sites of its kind in the world. The cave system is 24 kms (15 miles) long and comprises four caves interconnected through the same underground river. There's even a 'cave train' to help us visit this natural wonder.
Our next stop is the famed Predjama Castle, considered unique for being located inside a rock and extraordinarily preserved. In the afternoon, a fantastic journey of curves and more curves through green Slovenia will get us to our destination for the day, the extraordinary Plitvice National Park.
This large natural park, with its crystalline waters and a thousand waterfalls of absolute beauty, deserves a full day for us to walk its multiple trails and feel enchanted by the incomparable landscape. Our rest day will be the perfect way to 'recharge our batteries' for the remainder of our journey.
PLITVICE – MOSTAR
Today we cross the border into Bosnia, entering the third country on our tour. The route will take us to Mostar, where we will take a walk in the afternoon through its medieval old town and the world-famous famous Old Bridge, a symbol of the union of the two cultures that live in Mostar, Muslims and Christians. We will have dinner at the foot of this beautiful bridge, with one of the most spectacular backdrops of our trip.
MOSTAR - DUBROVNIK
On our way to the coast and beautiful Dubrovnik, we will visit Medugorje, a place of several apparitions of the Virgin in the past and still a pilgrimage destination for many Christians. Next on our route are the Castle of Stolac, a medieval fortress of imposing aspect, and Trebinje and its Roman bridge of colossal dimensions. We will reach Dubrovnik in time to admire the sunset from its ancient walls by the sea.
Our second rest day will be dedicated to walking inside this walled city and exploring its fortress, the cobbled streets, and the typical white stone buildings. 'Game of Thrones', the famed TV series, had several scenes filmed here, and some of the places we will visit will probably look strangely familiar to some of us! Dubrovnik is a real Pearl of the Mediterranean, and ours to be enjoyed for the whole day!
DUBROVNIK – SPLIT
We are back on the saddle and on the road for a full day of riding up north alongside the stunning coast of Croatia. Left and right, we will see bays, islands, crystal-clear waters, and medieval cities that will turn this into a fantastic day. In the afternoon, we will reach the Roman town of Split for our night stop. A sunset walk through this gem of a city will undoubtedly leave us amazed by an architecture trapped in time.
SPLIT - ZADAR
Our ride today is not particularly a long one, but we will have the opportunity to visit the undescribable Krk National Park. We should have our swimsuits and towels ready, as swimming in the crystal-clear waterfalls is always possible on our boat ride in the park.
In Zadar, our destination for the day, we will experience another magical sunset at two local attractions that are worth experiencing. The 'Sea Organ' is a sound art object and experimental musical instrument that creates lovely chimed tunes using only the power of sea waves, while the 'Greeting to the Sun' is a monument consisting of hundreds of glass plates that absorb solar energy during the day and create a spectacular waterfront light show just after sunset.
ZADAR - PULA
Today is pure biker pleasure for our group as we follow on idyllic coastal roads of impeccable asphalt and curves over the sea that lead to islands on the horizon. We will stop for local seafood and delicious coffee by the road, and then reach Pula, another pearl on our journey.
Pula is known for its many surviving ancient Roman buildings, the most famous of which is its 1st-century amphitheater, one of the six largest surviving Roman arenas in the world, locally known as the Arena and still in use today during summer film festivals.
PULA - VENICE
VENICE – LEVICO TERME
LEVICO TERME – MILAN
Our last day on the road on this tour starts with a ride on one of the most impressive roads in the world, the Strada della Forra. A winding road under rocks, waterfalls, and exquisite vegetation above our heads will make us believe we are dreaming... Next is Montecastello and then Lake Idro for lunch for an authentic 'Spaghetti a la Carbonara,' which will probably be the best we will ever have tasted!
In Milan, our farewell dinner will be the right occasion for us all to share the best memories and stories from these incredible days on the road, and maybe start planning future adventures together.
