One of the world's most scenic routes, the Pacific Coast Highway hugs the coastline and its laid-back surfing beaches. Inland, the Wine Country around Napa Valley showcases a different side of California, full of lesser-known, twisty backroads and plenty of fantastic scenery along the way.

Starting from cosmopolitan San Francisco, we will take the coastal route up north to Fort Bragg and then inland to Napa Valley, before going back to the PCH, southbound, visiting charming beach cities like Santa Cruz, Carmel, and Santa Barbara. We can't think of a better introduction to California!

Jour

SAN FRANCISCO

Reception of the participants at the airport and transfer to the hotel by Aventura Motorcycle Tours staff, welcome drink, dinner, and tour presentation.

SAN FRANCISCO – FORT BRAGG

On the first day of our trip, we leave San Francisco via the iconic Golden Gate, passing through cozy Sausalito and the bucolic Point Reyes National Seashore. Next, a must-do visit to Bodega Bay, a small town known for being the set for Alfred Hitchcock's classic movie, "The Birds".

From there on, our route to Fort Bragg for the night will be almost entirely along the beautiful north coast, with a promise of breathtaking views and a joyful ride for our group.

FORT BRAGG – NAPA

For the second day on the road, we leave Fort Bragg and the coast behind and start our journey inland via one of California's best roads, CA 20, a 25-mile climb into the Mendocino Range and crossing through Dunlap Pass to the town of Willits.

After a quick run on Hwy 101, we turn east at Calpella to go back to CA 20, following the road south around Clear Lake and then gorgeous Lake Berryessa. We are now entering Wine Country, and a visit to one of the region's famous viner

NAPA – HALF MOON BAY

We are heading back to the coast today, leaving Wine Country southbound to the Bay Area. Some surprising backroads are on the route and get ready for a unique new take on San Francisco from up the hills as we go through the Reinhardt Redwood and Anthony Chabot regional parks.

In the afternoon, we will cross the urban region of Silicon Valley, where some of the giant tech companies, as Apple in Cupertino, have their headquarters. Next is CA 35 across beautiful natural preserves on the way to Half Moon Bay, home to the world-famous Mavericks big wave surfing mecca.

HALF MOON BAY - CARMEL

It's time to ride alongside the majestic ocean for the whole day as we go south on the Pacific Coast Highway in the direction of Carmel-by-the-Sea. Incredible beaches on the right set the mood for a relaxed and enjoyable ride, including a little inland detour around the hills of Bonny Doon.

We will stop in Santa Cruz to get a taste of this renowned surfing town before we make another inland incursion to visit Laguna Seca, a well-known racetrack in the motorsport world. Before we arrive in Carmel, a stop in charming Monterey will be an excellent opportunity to explore its world-class Aquarium and walk around Fisherman's Wharf.

CARMEL – SANTA BARBARA

We will start the day leaving Carmel and riding on one of the most scenic parts of the PCH, Big Sur, with stunning views of the ocean on a road that hugs the high cliffs as we snake south with the Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park on our left. It will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of the trip.

In Morro Bay, our route will take the group inland to visit San Luis Obispo, another charming small resort town, before continuing to Lompoc and Santa Barbara, our destination for today and famous for its Spanish Renaissance architecture.

SANTA BARBARA – LOS ANGELES

The last day of the tour is another splendid ride with the ocean in our sight. Rincon Beach and Ventura are on our route as we keep heading south. Expect wonderful stops along the way as we enjoy some of the best stretches of the PCH.

Before arriving in Los Angeles for the end of our trip, we will have the opportunity to ride the twisties on two of the canyon roads close to Malibu: the Santa Monica Mountains and the Topanga State Park. Once in LA, a well-deserved celebratory dinner wait for the group, with plenty of stories to be shared and toasted with some excellent California wines.
