ROME

Reception of the tour participants at the airport and transfer to the hotel with Aventura Motorcycle Tours staff. In the evening, our group will get together for a welcome drink, dinner, and a little first surprise to warm us up for the days ahead: a three-hour night motorcycle ride around Rome!

It is said that all roads lead to Rome, and millions of people come to this vibrant city every year to marvel at its unique charm. Only a few do it by night and riding in two-wheels. We leave for this fantastic evening ride right after dinner, and our route will have eight stops in major landmarks, designed to tell us about the history of the city and appreciate all its beauty from a different point of view.

ROME - ORVIETO

We start our tour heading North, in the direction of Lake Bracciano and a short stop for coffee and lake views at Trevignano Romano. Next come Sutri and a visit to its famous Etruscan-era amphitheater. Still riding North, we will have lunch in beautiful Viterbo and admire the town's craftily preserved medieval architecture.

In the afternoon, the road will take us along Lake Bolsena, and a final stop at Civita de Bagnoregio, a little hilltop village that will probably become one of the most photographed places on our trip. Accessed by a pedestrian bridge only, this charming village is quite the view, especially by the end of the day. Our first night on the road will be in another enchanting mountaintop walled town, Orvieto, for a typical dinner and a well-deserved rest in the old city.

ORVIETO - POPPI

We leave Orvieto for a superb and surprising day on our way to Poppi. The surprises will come in the form of less-crowded twisty backroads that are simply a joy to ride on, and there will be plenty of them for our group to enjoy. As we say goodbye to Umbria and get close to the border with Tuscany, a stop at Monte Santa Maria Tiberina will allow us to marvel at wide-open and mesmerizing views of the gentle hills around us.

Moving on to Anghiari for another quick stop, we stay on backroads throughout the afternoon, crossing more little towns and enjoying the laidback countryside atmosphere. Poppi is guaranteed to be a delight to our eyes and senses, and we will explore its narrow streets as we go out for a relaxed walk before dinner.

POPPI – FLORENCE

Today we will leave Poppi and head to Florence for a rest day in the famous Renaissance city, taking the long way to get there. The 'Via Panoramica del Pratomagno' will be our first experience on a 'strade bianche', the celebrated dirt roads in this region of Italy. Both the road and the scenery will be memorable, making us look forward to the next white roads on our journey.

We then turn West in the direction of Siena, and from there we head again to Florence via the 'Chiantishire', which is undoubtedly one of the most impressive regions in the whole country. The SR222, considered a must-ride road, will lead our group to Florence for the first of two nights in this world-class city.

FLORENCE

Florence is ours for a full day, and the group will make the most of it. From our hotel conveniently located in the heart of the Old City, we will be able to discover some of its most treasured attractions: the Ponte Vecchio, the Duomo, and the Uffizi Gallery are just some of the possibilities the pause from the road will offer. It's a free day to enjoy this fantastic city as we see fit and get ready for the next few days exploring deep Tuscany.

FLORENCE – VOLTERRA

Another incredible route is waiting for us today. The ride from Florence to Volterra is simply beautiful, and we will arrive at the old mountaintop town through many different backroads. We head Southwest first to Lavoria and then South to San Martino before starting a northbound detour to visit cozy ancient villages like Miemo and then Chianni, where we will stop for lunch.

Afterward, we keep enjoying the secondary roads showcasing a timeless landscape as we get closer to our destination for the day. This is a peaceful and quiet area that will set the mood for our arrival in Volterra, easily seen from the road as we approach it. The medieval city is a landmark of Tuscany and will welcome us with unparalleled beauty and hospitality.

VOLTERRA LOOP

It's time to feel like a real Tuscan! We will spend a second night in Volterra, doing a 200-kilometer leisure ride around the region and get to know how everyday life takes place around there. As we cross lesser-known villages and towns and ride on even less busy country roads, the day will pass by quickly without us realizing it.

For those who want to take a break, Volterra offers plenty of things to do and see. A day spent exploring its medieval streets, museums, and local wine and food stores is a fantastic way to better understand the town and its surroundings from a historical perspective.

VOLTERRA - SIENA

Today will probably be remembered as one of the most fantastic rides of our tour. The roads will be something to write home about, and the places we will see along the way are real gems of Tuscany. Starting with a visit to beautiful San Gimignano, we will head East through parts of the old Mille Miglia circuit before reaching a series of absolutely thrilling roads on our way to the North part of the L'Eroica course. We will learn more about this annual cycle event as we ride its southern part tomorrow.

In the afternoon, we will pass by charming towns like Radda and Gaiole in the 'Chiantishire' area. The nickname is due to the large number of British and American expats who went there decades ago to settle in the famous wine region. We will then arrive at another Italian beloved medieval icon, Siena, home for the next two nights.

SIENA LOOP (L’EROICA)

Today's plan is to leave Siena and ride the L'Eroica loop, the same track of the world-famous vintage bicycle event that takes place there every October. The full course is 209 km long, and a good part of it is on white roads. The views are indescribable, and so are the tracks. The most challenging part of our ride will be to decide where to stop for amazing photo opportunities as we go.

We will also make time to visit one of the most charming of Tuscany's towns, Montalcino, home of the famous wine of the same name. It won't be the right time to indulge in wine-tasting, as the motorcycles are waiting for us for the remainder of the day. Still, it will be the perfect moment to talk with local producers and be educated on which vintages and producers to look for when ordering our next Brunello di Montalcino.

SIENA - MONTEPULCIANO

One can drive from Siena to Montepulciano in about one hour if the fastest route is taken, but we will spend the whole day riding through asphalt and dirt to get there. There's no better way to experience Tuscany than to go to its remote corners and finding ourselves in the middle of fairytale forests.  The Belagaio trail, an idyllic dirt road in the 'Reserva Naturale di Farma' woods, is one of them.

After lunch, more iconic villages will be waiting for our group: San Quirico d'Orcia, Pienza, and Montecchiello will show up one after another on the scenic route to Montepulciano, our stop for the next two nights. This is Tuscany at its best!

MONTEPULCIANO

The hilltop town of Montepulciano is considered a true gem of the whole region, and it certainly deserves its fame. It is also the perfect place to get some rest and recover from intense days on the road. Today is reserved for indulging in various activity options, and there are many of them. From balloon-riding to truffle hunting, from cheese and wine-tasting to culinary lessons, the area around Montepulciano offers the curious visitor the opportunity to further understand the way of life of the people who are lucky call Tuscany home.

MONTEPULCIANO - PITIGLIANO

Get prepared for a long and rewarding day as we leave the gentle hills from central Tuscany and head to the coast to visit Porto Santo Stefano before riding back inland for the night. Our route will take us straight South on scenery that will gradually change as we get closer to the sea. Beautiful Porto Santo Stefano is the main town on the peninsula of Monte Argentario.

In the afternoon, we will reach the quaint old town of Pitigliano, a marvel of South Tuscany. This most unusual city is situated atop a large tufa rock and has its origins in the Etruscan era. It is also home to 'Little Jerusalem', as Pitigliano used to be home to a flourishing Jewish community for several hundred years. You can be sure the night spent there will be one of the highlights of this journey in deep Tuscany.

PITIGLIANO – ROME

We are now on our final riding day of this unforgettable trip. Leaving Pitigliano behind us, the route today will take us to the East at first, to Lake Bolsena and then the mystical town of Narni for lunch. We will take some time to walk on its narrow cobblestone streets before we are back on our bikes for the ride to Rome.

A celebratory dinner will mark the end of this journey of pure joy and discovery in one of the world's most sought-after destinations. It's time to share memories and impressions around fantastic food and reward ourselves with a few glasses of excellent wine.
