Motorcycle Rental in Barcelona — Discover Catalonia on Two Wheels

Barcelona is the gateway to some of the most varied and rewarding riding in all of Spain: the Pyrenees to the north, the Costa Brava coastline to the east, the volcanic landscapes of the Garrotxa, and the medieval roads of the interior. Hertz Ride Barcelona gives you access to a fleet of BMW, Honda and Ducati motorcycles, located in the Sants-Montjuïc district at Carrer de Guitard 15 — close to Barcelona-Sants Train Station, the city center and a short taxi ride from El Prat Airport.

Whether you are spending a long weekend riding the passes above Montserrat or planning a multi-day adventure through the Pyrenees — renting a motorcycle from Hertz Ride Barcelona is your best option.

Why Rent a Motorcycle in Barcelona?

Barcelona is already an established favorite among European motorcycle travellers — and for good reasons:

An exceptional variety of roads: The Pyrenees, the Costa Brava, the Garrotxa volcanic zone, Montserrat, Montseny — each offers a completely different riding character, all within 90–150 km of the city.

A long and reliable riding season: Catalonia enjoys mild temperatures from March to November. Spring and autumn are particularly good — light traffic, moderate temperatures, and the landscape at its most vivid.

Well-maintained roads with real technical interest: The secondary road network around Barcelona is smooth, well-signposted and genuinely rewarding. Tight mountain switchbacks, sweeping coastal curves and quiet forest roads are all within easy reach.

Direct flights from across Europe: Barcelona El Prat Airport is served by direct routes from most major European cities. Land, reach our location in under 30 minutes, and you are riding.

Practical Information for Your Barcelona Motorcycle Rental

License Requirements

In Spain, a Category A license is required for motorcycles over 35 kW (approx. 47 hp). European licenses are fully recognised — no additional paperwork for EU riders. Visitors from outside the EU should carry an International Driving Permit alongside their national license. Minimum age and experience requirements vary by model — check at booking or contact our Barcelona team.

Insurance

All rental motorcycles include Collision Damage Waiver (CDW). We recommend adding Extra Coverages to reduce your financial exposure in the event of motorcycle damage. Extra coverage options can be added at booking or at pick-up.

Fuel

All motorcycles in the Barcelona fleet run on unleaded petrol. Fill up with Gasolina 95 or Super 98 at any service station — both are widely available throughout Catalonia and across Spain.

Pick-up and Return

Hertz Ride Barcelona is located at Carrer de Guitard 15, Bajos, Local 1, near Barcelona-Sants Train Station — easily reached by taxi from the city center or from El Prat Airport (approx. 25–30 min). Online check-in is available to speed up the counter process.

One-Way Rentals

Start in Barcelona and return the bike in Madrid, Málaga, Alicante, Lisbon or any other Hertz Ride location. One-way rentals are available across Portugal and Spain — just mention it when booking.

The Best Motorcycle Routes from Barcelona

Our Barcelona station is ideally placed to ride straight into the finest roads in Catalonia and beyond. These are the routes our riders recommend most:

Montserrat Mountain Loop

The ride to Montserrat is the one every motorcyclist based in Barcelona does first — and most repeat it. The hairpins tighten with altitude, the traffic fades, and the extraordinary serrated rock formations come into view. The monastery at 725 meters makes a natural halfway stop.

Costa Brava Coastal Route

Known as the Road of a Thousand Bends, the GI-682 follows the shoreline with real intent — tight bends above dramatic cliffs, Mediterranean blue through every gap in the rock, and the small fishing ports of Llafranc, Calella de Palafrugell and Tamariu as natural stops.

Pyrenees — Ripoll, Puigcerdà and the High Passes

This is the route riders come to Barcelona specifically to ride. Head north on the C-17, pass through Vic and Ripoll and continue climbing into the high valleys. The road crosses the Cerdanya plateau at 1,200 meters with the Pyrenees rising on both sides. Best April to October.

Garrotxa Volcanic Zone

The Garrotxa Natural Park is one of the best-kept secrets in Catalan motorcycling. Forty volcanic cones and over twenty ancient craters create a topography unlike anything else in the region: rolling forested hills, smooth roads and sudden open views across lava plateaus.

Montseny Natural Park

Montseny is Barcelona's closest natural escape — a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of ancient beech and oak forest. The roads wind through dense canopy past streams and stone farmhouses. Especially rewarding in spring and autumn.

Tarragona and Priorat — Roman Ruins and Wine Country

Head south on the C-32 coastal road via Sitges to Tarragona — home to some of the best-preserved Roman ruins in Western Europe. From Tarragona turn inland into the Priorat wine region: steep slate terraces, ancient villages and extraordinary light.
