Milan - Andermatt
Milano is the second biggest city in Italy, and it leads the way in art, commerce, design, fashion, and finance. At the start of our tour, we’ll head north along the Lake Maggiore and through the historic towns of Arona and Stresa that combine history and natural beauty. Bellinzona, a Swiss town famous for its three medieval castles, will serve as a stop for lunch, as we admire this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
We will then enter the heart of the mountains with the crossing of the Gotthard Pass (2.016 m.), used by pilgrims in the Middle Ages to reach Rome or the Holy Land. In the late afternoon, we will finish the first day in Andermatt, a famous ski tourist resort, well known for its winter sports.
Andermatt - Chiavenna
We call our second day on this tour "Pass Day”, as we go through five magnificent and famous alpine passes (Furka, Grimsel, Susten, Oberalp, and Spluga) , with their hairpin bends and breathtaking views over 2,000 meters high. Plenty of twisties to ride, and plenty of photo and sightseeing opportunities to take home long-lasting memories of this day in the heart of the Alpine Mountains. We will arrive in Chiavenna by the end of the day, a renowned old town and, in the past, an important strategic center in the heart of the Rezia region.
CHIAVENNA - LIVIGNO
The ride begins with the cross the Valtellina Valley, famous for its unique gastronomy (the Bitto Cheese and the wines are very appreciated), heading east and crossing two other Alpine passes (Aprica and Gavia) that will give us incredible riding pleasure and spectacular views all the way. The Gavia pass, in particular, can be considered a place of uncontaminated beauty because it climbs steeply in a few kilometers through a narrow and winding road up to over 2,600 meters high.
In the afternoon, we will continue to Bormio, a famous resort known for its thermal waters, to conclude the day in Livigno, a well-known "duty free" destination for those who love shopping.
LIVIGNO - GARMISH P.
On this day we will cross four countries: Italy, Switzerland, Austria, and Germany. It will be a succession of emotions and places to discover starting from the most familiar among the Alpine passes, the Stelvio, where we’ll stop, and take photos. Then we descend to Glorenza, a small town founded in the eleventh century D.C.
Entering Austria, we will climb green valleys until we cross the Fern Pass and then reach Germany for our stop at Garmish Partenchirchen, a famous ski resort located at the foot of the Zugspitze (2.962 meters), the highest mountain in Germany. In the summer, Garmisch is home to the BMW Motorrad Days, the German brand celebration party for its enthusiasts.
GARMISH P. - CORTINA D'AMPEZZO
This day will lead us through mainly Austrian territory along wide valleys that will offer the view of pastures and landscapes different from those seen in the previous days, until we reach the glacier of Grossglockner climbing a beautiful panoramic road surrounded by hundreds of marmots that live the slopes of the mountain. It’s a fantastic riding road, full of corners to suit every motorcycle's desires.
After a quick stop, it's time to go back into the saddle to head towards the final stage of the day, Cortina d'Ampezzo, called the pearl of the Dolomites. Cortina is also famous for being a summer and winter resort frequented by VIPs, offering the best of shops, hotels, and gastronomic services.
CORTINA D'AMPEZZO - Merano
We ride from Cortina d'Ampezzo to Merano through the heart of the Dolomites, passing the group of the Sella mountain massifs through its most famous passes; Falzarego, Campolongo and Pordoi that will take us to Valgardena and head to Bressanone, a town founded in 901 D.C. and the historical, artistic, cultural and economic capital of the Isarco Valley district. We are back in Italy, but German is the language mainly spoken.
From Bressanone, through the pristine Val Sarentina, we reach Merano, a picturesque town located at the start of four famous valleys: Val Venosta, Val Passiria, Val d'Adige and Val d'Ultimo.
Merano - Milan
On the last day of our tour, we will descend to the plains crossing the Adamello natural park, with a break in Madonna di Campiglio, a popular lake spot for those who practice windsurfing and MAG headquarters, (Museo Alto Garda) with works from the 15th to the 19th century. We then skirt the western side of the lake, which offers striking views along its shore. This dramatic change of scenery, from the high mountain passes to the easiness of the Garda shores, is the perfect way to end a fantastic tour.
We then head down to Milano again, taking the easy and fastest route, and our farewell dinner will be the perfect combination of great Italian food and wine. Let's celebrate with a toast to life, beautiful roads and riding motorcycles!
